Seventeen-year-old Ruby is a Fireblood who has concealed her powers of heat and flame from the cruel Frostblood ruling class her entire life. But when her mother is killed trying to protect her, and rebel Frostbloods demand her help to overthrow their bloodthirsty king, she agrees to come out of hiding, desperate to have her revenge.

Despite her unpredictable abilities, Ruby trains with the rebels and the infuriating—yet irresistible—Arcus, who seems to think of her as nothing more than a weapon. But before they can take action, Ruby is captured and forced to compete in the king’s tournaments that pit Fireblood prisoners against Frostblood champions. Now she has only one chance to destroy the maniacal ruler who has taken everything from her—and from the icy young man she has come to love.

HELLO HELLO HELLO HELLO EVERYONE, I hope you guys are having an amazing and wonderful day <3

Today I´m going to review Frostblood by Elly Blake!
And can I just say that I LOVED this book so much?!
Because I absolutely did!
To be honest I have been thinking of reading it again because…

I haven´t read a lot of Fantasy books this year… I think I have only read four so far, five with this one. Somehow I have been reading more Contemporary books so if you ever need some recs, I´ll be here ;D

And for that same reason, I decided to read Frostblood!
I have been wanting to read it since last year when I heard about it for the very first time & when my friend Helena sent me an ARC the other day, I just knew I had to read it soon. The cover looked absolutely stunning and I know I always say this BUT THE SYNOPSIS GUYS!!!
The book sounded absolutely amazing and I read it immediately! While it took me three days to finish it, I think I would have read it in a day, but I was busy so 🙁 Yeah I know, but hey, it was a very quick read so
that´s good ;D

One of the many things that I like about Frostblood was Elly Blake´s writing style and the way she decided to start the book. It started in a “NO WAY WHAT´S HAPPENING?” kind of way. While it was sad, I think it gave the story a special meaning and purpose to the MC.

Ruby is a Fireblood!
Unfortunately not everyone likes the Firebloods because they think of them as the ones that were responsible for everything that had happened to Frostbloods :/
There aren´t a lot of firelights left except for Ruby.

Ruby was a completely badass character.
She was brave and while she didn´t understand her power that well, I´m glad that with the help of the monks and a very handsome guy AHEM aka love interest (HE IS SO CUTE GUYS THE SWOONS) ;D she learns how to use it!

There´s slow burn romance in the book and and one of my favorites where they hate each other at the beginning.  Arcus hates her since the very beginning of the book, but you can probably guess how that ends ;D I loved how stubborn Ruby was some times, and how Arcus started to develop feelings for her  *inserts all the hearts*

This book had everything I like:

– Fighting scenes.
– Friendship.
– Romance.
– Twists. (OH THE TWISTS GUYS!)
– AND THE END!!!!!!!!! AHHHH

I really enjoyed this book, and I really hope you guys read it. I think you will like it AND the next book comes out on September aka my B-day month ;D

If you read it let me know, I would love to hear (read) your thoughts,

Rebeca <3

About Elly Blake

Elly Blake loves fairy tales, old houses, and owls. After earning a BA in English literature, she held a series of seemingly random jobs, including project manager, customs clerk, graphic designer, reporter for a local business magazine, and library assistant. She lives in Southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and a Siberian Husky mix who definitely shows Frostblood tendencies.
