Happy Third Year Blogiversary!!!

WOW, WOW, WOW!! It’s hard to believe that it has been 3 years that I’ve had this blog open. Granted I been reviewing for longer than that. But this blog, BookNerd Addicts is 3 years old today!!!!

I’m super excited and nervous today, haha. It’s been a heck of a year that’s for sure! I’m grateful to some many of you. I can’t even begin to express how much you have made me feel.

I sit here today and look back at all that has happened, all the hardships that I overcome and accomplish that I have succeeded in.  I am truly grateful for everything and everyone in my life. Thank you!

I’ve never really had a Blogiversary before. This is actually the first one that I’m hosting.  My anxiety can prevent me from many things sometimes. But thanks to my wonderful co-blogger and sister Becky!!! (Not maternal duh haha) She persuaded me that it would be a great and fun idea and I can’t deny Becky so here we are today!!!

So since this is my first actual post about me. I figured I would tell you a little bit about how I got here.

7 years ago in 2010 I was I was diagnosed with a chronic illness called Fibromyalgia. Which is a medical condition characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain. Fast forward 5 years in 2014, I was at the lowest point in my life. I was trying to start a family with no success and Fibromyalgia was at it’s worse.
I was in excruciating pain, unmotivated and lifeless.  But on one faithful day, my cousin suggested I read the Twilight series. I wasn’t really interested but my cousin was really persistent, bless her heart.
She actually got me thinking about why I even stop reading or when it even happened.
When I was in elementary I used to read all the time. Scholastic used to be the best time of my life. I couldn’t wait, I used to save all my money I’ve had earned so I could spend it all lol.
I was actually a big fan of R.L Stine (still am). I loved “Fear street series”. But the most loved book I had read back then was definitely “The Diary of Anne Frank”. The Diary of Anne Frank changed everything for me. It changed the way I saw things, the way I thought and it will forever be embedded in my mind.
So I guess I blame my cousin for getting me to read the Twilight series and I did like it. I know this book gets a lot of discussions and that’s ok. We are all different and see everything uniquely different. My eyes had been open to problematic issues that I hadn’t seen before. But I do still have to thank this series for giving me the kick that I needed to get me out of my funk.
Because of this series, I discovered this amazing book community and with this community came a lot of great friends. It has reawakened my love for reading.
That is something I will never be ashamed of.

I became obsessed with reading again and started blogging.  I’ve met a lot of wonderful and inspiring people thru blogging. I will always be grateful for the relationships that I have made. That is the one thing, I will always be appreciative of.
I additionally become obsessed with a lot of other things. Especially Disney and Harry Potter, this I blame the whole Twitter universe, lol (not really).
It hasn’t all been fun and wondrous. One thing that twitter has made me realize is how people can be way more mean, jealous, and bullies on the internet. A few months ago I had a huge bump in the road. That has caused me a lot of mental issues. For those of you that don’t know, I suffer from mental illness, depression, and anxiety. It’s one of many side effects from fibromyalgia.
Till this day, that bump, in some way or another still affects me. It has definitely changed the way I interact on Twitter. I have missed on some opportunities. I don’t reach out on twitter as much as I like too.  I still can’t type up a simple tweet without my anxiety acting out.  However, I thrive every day, every day is a new day for me. What I come to learn is that sometimes during bad situations. Good things can come out of it. I am grateful for the great friends that have helped me through this difficult time. I am grateful for all of you that have made and continue to make blogging and twitter a safe and wonderful place for me and anyone else out there that is struggling. It wouldn’t be possible without any of you.
Just know that every comment and email I have ever received has meant more to me than you could possibly know.
I did learn that no matter what, you CAN overcome it. Don’t let anyone put you down!
Don’t let the ugliness disguise the beauty of this world. There are genuine people all around you. You just have to look a little harder and not fall for the jesters.

Hello everyone, I really can’t express how happy I am right now!
I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Helena, two years ago she invited me to be part of her blog, my response? I sent her lots and lots of emojis.
I couldn’t believe it and I really couldn’t find any words to thank her.
I was shocked and happy, that day was one of the best days ever because in that moment someone was believing in me and it meant the world to me.
Two years ago, I started to talk to so many amazing bloggers, readers, and writers. All of you, every single one of you has a special place in my heart. Even if we don’t talk every day, I really hope you guys know that if you ever need someone to talk to, someone to listen, someone you want to fangirl with about books, you can always tweet me, I’m grateful to have you in my life.

To Becky, the most wonderful human being in this world. You’re so precious and grateful to me. I don’t know how much more I can express my gratitude for you. I believe that someone somewhere has sent you to me.
You make me smile every single day! You make me reach my goals and accomplish things I never knew I could. You push me to be more like you.
You’re such a wonderful, passionate person with a tremendous heart.
Thank you for being you. For being such a beautiful soul. For being my friend.<3
Becky and I are thankful for every single one of you. You are all special in your unique way and forever will hold a place in our hearts.
In no specific order, we would like to thank.

Happy 2 years blogiversary! My New Years–We toasted the new year at 10 pm so I could go to sleep–too tired this year to make midnight. My resolutions–go through my things and donate/toss whatever I no longer need or use. I already started. I want to do this in pieces so I don’t get frustrated–small victories!

I was still getting over a very nasty cold/flu bug. My daughter, granddaughter and SIL came over and we just hung out. We did get to talk to my youngest daughter who is in Cusco, Peru on a humanitarian trip with OSU. She unfortunately had altitude sickness and spent NYE in the hostel puking. So hopefully 2017 will be better.

  17. KateS

It was good, I was out with some old friends. I never do resolutions because I always end up disappointing myself.

  18. Irma J

It was awesome. I spent it with my hubby and our daughter and we had the best time. I don’t do NY resolutions.

  19. My dear Helena & Becky, thank you so much for your friendship and overall awesomeness, I’m so so happy to call you my friends! Because you are like a rockstar to me ❤ And Becky, my partner in crime, you are ao dear to me & I love fighting over our book boyfriends (FYI they are all mine). LOVE YOU AND CONGRATS ON YOUR BLOGIVERSARY! (Isn’t it cool we share the same blogiversary month 😉 )

  20. Happy blogoversary, loves!!! Helena, thank you for sharing your story with us! It is so inspiring to see how reading, and blogging, can really help make a difference in someone’s life. And the friendship you all have (and that you still share with Stacee, which is both lovely AND a refreshing thing to see!) is so, so sweet- and #goals, tbh! And you are too dear for mentioning me, I am glad to have gotten to know you both! I am sorry that the incident still pulls at your anxiety- but I do totally understand why it would. If you ever get overwhelmed and want to chat (or if you just plain old want to chat, obviously!) I am here. BIG hugs to you both, and hoping for many, many more years of happy blogging and reading to come!! ♥♥

    Happy Blogiversary!!!🎉

I think I was in Ben on New Year’s before midnight. The only resolution I made was to drink more water. Then our town started putting chlorine in the tap water, so I guess ill be getting more bottled water.

  22. Julie Waldron

Our New Year’s Eve was good. We stayed home, it was our youngest daughter’s birthday. I did not make any resolutions.

  23. Aimee

    (This is super late but…) My new year’s resolution is to finish what I’ve started (books, writing, projects…) and also to engage more. Congrats on two years! I hope that the coming year brings you all sorts of good things c;
