Secret Identities. Extraordinary Powers. She wants vengeance. He wants justice.

The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies — humans with extraordinary abilities — who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone... except the villains they once overthrew.

Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice — and in Nova. But Nova's allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.

The Renegades by Marissa Meyer a YA science Fiction tale full of extraordinary powers, vengeance, Secret identities, and justice. A story bursting with phenomenal characters, insane action, and shocking heart-wrenching tales.

Who’s your favorite Renegade Character?

I know this is a pretty hard question. I considered this question, long and hard and my favorite characters would definitely have to be Nova and Adrian, followed by Ruby, and Oscar of course. Although not only for their wonderful friendships and heartbreaks but for their exceptional fighting abilities.

Though you’d already know how exceptional they are if you read the Renegades by Marissa Meyer. But if you haven’t, which is totally ok, this is the perfect time for you to get to know them. Enjoy!

Meet the characters

NOVA

“Do you have what it takes to be a hero? Ugh. Stab me with an egg beater.”

Ever since the day her family was murdered, Nova has been unable to sleep. But she doesn’t miss it. In fact, her insomnia is part of her superpower: She never sleeps, and can put others to sleep just by touching them. After her family was taken from her, Nova was raised by the Anarchists, a group of villains who live hidden beneath the city, lying in wait to take down the Renegades and reclaim Gatlon for themselves. But now Nova is old enough to participate in the Renegade trials and potentially infiltrate their ranks. If she makes it through the trials, the Anarchists may come out of hiding…

Alias: NIGHTMARE / INSOMNIA
Power: TRANQUILIZATION

ADRIAN

“I want the same thing every Renegade does. Justice.”

Adrian is the adopted child of Captain Chromium and the Dread Warden, two of the original Renegades. Adrian’s superpower is that he can make anything he draws real—which may not sound all that tough, but comes in more handy than you might think. Recently he’s become obsessed with catching a villain who goes by the name Nightmare, after she attempted to assassinate one of his dads. Adrian is the leader of his Renegade squad, and his friends respect his sense of morality and justice. But he also has a big secret he hasn’t told any of them yet…

Alias: SKETCH / THE SENTINEL
Power: ARTWORK GENESIS

RUBY

“I mean, I would kill someone. If I had to. If someone’s life was in danger or something.”

As a child, Ruby endured a terrifying injury, and the wound has still not healed.  But it doesn’t hinder her—oh, no. When she bleeds, her blood transforms into super-sharp red gemstones that she uses as weapons. Her favorite weapon is her bloodstone grappling hook and wire. Ruby is practical, strong, and fiercely loyal. She and Oscar have a thing—but neither of them will admit it.

Alias: RED ASSASSIN
Power: HEMO-TRANSFORMATION

OSCAR

“Don’t knock the cafeteria. It is free and it is awesome.”

As Smokescreen, Oscar has been known to take down enemies of extreme strength. His ability to create smoke out of thin air makes him a master of the sneak attack and a force to be reckoned with. But when Oscar is off duty, he’s just a normal teenage guy–showing off his powers, constantly eating, and poking fun at his teammates. Oscar was born with a bone disease, walks with a cane, and is a total flirt. But the flirting is mostly for show–he only has eyes for Ruby.

Alias: SMOKESCREEN
Power: SMOKE AND VAPOR CONTROL

DANNA

“I worry that calling them butterflies all the time undermines how remarkable of an ability it really is. Like saying, hey, I can turn into rainbows and daisies!”

As Monarch, Danna can transform into a swarm of butterflies at will to easily evade an attack. She also uses her power to infiltrate hard-to-reach places, to eavesdrop on important conversations, and to gather hyper-awareness of her surroundings. Don’t be fooled by her dainty butterflies, though—Danna is tough as nails.

Alias: MONARCH
Power: METAMORPHOSIS

Part thriller, part superhero fantasy, here is the fiercely awaited sequel to the New York Times bestselling Renegades by Marissa Meyer, author of the Lunar Chronicles.

Are Nova and Adrian each other’s worst nightmare?

In Renegades, Nova and Adrian (aka Insomnia and Sketch) fought the battle of their lives against the Anarchist known as the Detonator. It was a short-lived victory.

The Anarchists still have a secret weapon, one that Nova believes will protect her. The Renegades also have a strategy for overpowering the Anarchists, but both Nova and Adrian understand that it could mean the end of Gatlon City – and the world – as they know it.
