The first in a new fantasy series from the New York Times bestselling author.
In a land where three suns almost never set, a fledgling killer joins a school of assassins, seeking vengeance against the powers who destroyed her family.
Daughter of an executed traitor, Mia Corvere is barely able to escape her father’s failed rebellion with her life. Alone and friendless, she hides in a city built from the bones of a dead god, hunted by the Senate and her father’s former comrades. But her gift for speaking with the shadows leads her to the door of a retired killer, and a future she never imagined.
Now, Mia is apprenticed to the deadliest flock of assassins in the entire Republic—the Red Church. If she bests her fellow students in contests of steel, poison and the subtle arts, she’ll be inducted among the Blades of the Lady of Blessed Murder, and one step closer to the vengeance she desires. But a killer is loose within the Church’s halls, the bloody secrets of Mia’s past return to haunt her, and a plot to bring down the entire congregation is unfolding in the shadows she so loves.
Will she even survive to initiation, let alone have her revenge?

Hello, everyone!!! We hope you’re all having a fabulous day! Today we would like to talk to you about The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff! We’ve all heard about this series. The question is should we read it and devote our time to it? From what we’ve have seen, some either hate it or love it. Be it the writing style was too dense, it was simply very verbose or it was problematic. Whatever it is I’m a firm believer that everyone should read a book to understand, to see what the problematic issue, writing style are and learn for ourselves, rate it for ourselves. Now, I know not many agree with this statement and I understand, I really do. But as a teacher, it’s my job to read everything! So that I can teach my students and others, but also to learn from it as well.

Nonetheless, The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff sounds like a genuine, great ADULT (not YA) fantasy novel. I have been hearing some fascinating things from people around the internet, but also from some great reputable reviewers that I follow and value their opinion quite significantly. I have to say that after reading tons of reviews and speaking to friends and teachers, I’m extremely excited to read this series. Hence why I will be quoting their reviews in this post. It would also mean a great deal to me if you could support them and read their reviews. Nevertheless,

Reputable Reviewers!

5 Star review by Eileen (BookCatPin) Eileen (BookCatPin)

the book early reviewers either loved or hated. This made me extra cautious going into the story but it did not dim my excitement at getting my hands on a copy. I was ready to find out which side I’d be on. Guess what? I loved it! Please, don’t forget to click this amazing review to get the full content.

Once the actual story started going, the twists and turns never stopped coming! I was constantly on my toes anticipating the next blood bath that I knew was headed our way. It took me a little longer to warm up to the characters but once I did, I fell completely in love with everyone, minor character or not. Mia was probably one of the most kick-butt heroines I’ve ever read about. She was nowhere near the most beautiful, the most perfect, or even the strongest, but she still whooped some butt! I loved her friendship with Tric, Ashlinn, and Charlotta. I even enjoyed Mia’s rivalry against Jessamine. Oh and sneaky, little Hush! This book just had so many notable supporting characters that each added their own flair into the mix. This whole group of assassins-to-be would literally be squad goals if they ever decided to stop trying killing one another! Please, don’t forget to click this amazing review to get the full content.

4 1/2 Star Review by Joel (Throne of books)

While the plot on its own was motivated, I do believe character development and world building played a huge role in the plot. Once I got through my initial overwhelm and confusion, I couldn’t put the book down I was so sucked into the story by the immense amount of action and badassery of it all. The second half of the book got darker at points and was full of kick ass action, all I can say about it is this is not a book for children. It’s actually not even a Young Adult novel, trust me when I say it’s an adult novel. The amount of gore and detail (not to mention the steaminess of the sex scenes), is without a doubt something you might want to consider before picking this up if you’re squeamish about that type of thing. Please, don’t forget to click this amazing review to get the full content.

As I stated above, people either hate it or love it and one of the problems most people have is the writing style. I for one love different styles, it opens my mind to other characteristics and perspectives in their story telling. It’s also a challenge for me to learn and understand the author’s mind and complex thoughts. Sometimes we have to go out of our comfort zone to grow, plus challenging ourselves can help us perform at our best peak. It’s good to step out of our comfort zone. Don’t be frightened to jump into books that are complex or challenging, you don’t have to read the book in one day! You have all the time in the world., take it one day at a time. (sorry, that was the teacher in me:)

Oh yay! I’m glad you’re gonna give it a shot. It takes about 70 pages for the story to really get going but BOY does it get going! You’re in for a wild awesome ride! And yes, absolutely 100% adult!

I’ve been wanting to read this series but you know how it is. So many books already. I sometimes read a book just because of the mixed reviews. What doesn’t work for someone else might be perfect for me.
