The Orphan Queen By Jodi Meadows – Review

Book Title: The Orphan Queen
Author: Jodi Meadows

Genre: Fantasy, Romance, YA

Wilhelmina has a hundred identities.
She is a princess. When the Indigo Kingdom conquered her homeland, Wilhelmina and other orphaned children of nobility were taken to Skyvale, the Indigo Kingdom’s capital. Ten years later, they are the Ospreys, experts at stealth and theft. With them, Wilhelmina means to take back her throne.
She is a spy. Wil and her best friend, Melanie, infiltrate Skyvale Palace to study their foes. They assume the identities of nobles from a wraith-fallen kingdom, but enemies fill the palace, and Melanie’s behavior grows suspicious. With Osprey missions becoming increasingly dangerous and their leader more unstable, Wil can’t trust anyone.
She is a threat. Wraith is the toxic by-product of magic, and for a century using magic has been forbidden. Still the wraith pours across the continent, reshaping the land and animals into fresh horrors. Soon it will reach the Indigo Kingdom. Wilhelmina’s magic might be the key to stopping the wraith, but if the vigilante Black Knife discovers Wil’s magic, she will vanish like all the others.
Jodi Meadows introduces a vivid new fantasy full of intrigue, romance, dangerous magic, and one girl’s battle to reclaim her place in the world.

My Thoughts

The Orphan Queen is by far my favorite book from 2015, first I have to say that I LOVED the dedication, it was so inspirational and I think a lot of people related with it, and after that dedication, I couldn’t help but read the story she wanted to tell us.

The book was absolutely stunning and amazing and awesome!! I’m not exaggerating, really if you already read  the book then you understand what I’m talking about. I stayed up so late to finish it, and I don’t regret it, it was totally amazing.

My favorite character in the book was Wilhelmina, and not because she was a princess, well ok that too, BUT AlSO BECAUSE of all her different identities. She can’t use her magic since  Black Knife could make her vanish IF SHE DOES, and of course she wouldn’t risk using her magic since she is the only one who could help the Ospreys fulfill their mission of getting back their kingdom.

Black Knife’s character was amazing, he was dark and mysterious, he’s the one who always tries to keep the calm outside in the streets, kind of like the hero, but the authorities aren’t grateful of his actions. He becomes friends with Wilhelmina and I have to say it was something amazing, I laughed a lot.

I always second guessed who HE REALLY (OR TRULY) was and when I found out my suspicions were right, I was so HAPPY. After that, everything made sense.
There were betrayals, the book is all about secret identities and of course, a beautiful love story.

For real, I promise you will love this book!!! Go read it like, right now! Jodi’s way of writing is amazing and it captivated me since the very first page and that endING! I really need to read the second book right now. OH, AND Have you seen the cover of The Mirror King? Is amazing.

The characters were amazing, they were absolutely well described and I could imagine them easily, the world she created was absolutely original and the way she described it was amazing.
