Today I´m going to review Since You´ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson, a book that I have been wanting to read since FOREVER, seriously. That book has been in my Bookshelf since maybe last year? or maybe even more :O I know, but I´m glad I finally read it because I heard SO MANY AMAZING THINGS.

I´m not even sure how to start this review because I just finished this book the other day and I have so many, MANY thoughts, seriously, it was just that good.

I heard about this book a while ago and I was curious so I saw the cover and thought, “ok, this is a book about friendship maybe?” and then I read the synopsis and BAM! I added it to my TBR… After reading that Sloane left a list with things, kind of dares for Emily to do, I just knew I had to read it.

The book starts with Sloane, Emily´s best friend and MC of the story, disappearing with any explanation.

I was confused at the beginning, because, why would she do that? I was kind of angry and curious and of course I kept reading… Emily tried to call her but she didn´t answer her phone, and when she went to her house, she saw that Sloane wasn´t there.
I felt bad for Emily, she was confused, worried and sad that her best friend did that to her. Then when she gets home her mom tells her theres a letter for her… a letter from Sloane with a list of things she wanted Emily to do…

Emily is a very shy girl at the beginning of the book with the rest of the people that surrounds her, but when she´s with Sloane she feels better… like she belongs. She thought that the summer was going to be amazing but when Sloane left everything changed… and to be honest, I feel like it changed for the best.

Emily makes new friends; Frank Porter, a very VERY intelligent boy, that loves the Beatles with all his heart. He´s SUPER cute and handsome *THE SWOONS* but he has a girlfriend… 🙁 Collins, a very funny guy, that no matter what, he keeps asking popular girls to go out with him and a very loyal friend. Dawn, a girl who had her heart broken by her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend…

Together they have one of the most epic summers ever, they all help Emily to do the the things from her list.

The list it´s something very important here. It helped Emily to actually learn how to have fun, how to LIVE and most importantly it gave her the opportunity to realize that while she always thought Sloane was the most special and amazing person she has ever met, she  could be just as amazing, special and FEARLESS.

I loved how we can see how Emily changes through the book, because I somehow feel like I did too… I used to feel like Emily when I was in High School, and seeing how she changed and became more herself, I just thought it was something amazing & perfect.

This is the perfect kind of summer read, even though I read on February, I think I´ll re-read it again soon. This was a very special book about friendship, heartbreaks and LOVE, if you haven’t read this book yet… what are you waiting for?
